39 weeks...and induction may be necessary

Well, it has been a long road and unfortunately we aren't at the end yet. I saw the doctor again today and I have the induction scheduled for next Tuesday, May 30th. I am still not ready, but some progress has been made. The baby is still doing well and is in position for delivery and is estimated to weigh 7 lbs. 6 oz.

38 weeks - Leaving it up to Nature

As you all know, I have had a very healthy pregnancy (even with the gestational diabetes) and my Obstetrician is no longer wanting to induce me. My blood pressure is running 118/78 and I am still ten pounds less than I was when I started the pregnancy. Also, my blood glucose levels had been very good and the baby has received perfect scores on all of her biophysical profiles. If I have not delivered on my own by my due date of May 30th, then the doctor will begin the induction process. D and I are very happy about this since we feel that it will be better to let things progress on their own and occur naturally if possible.

We did have some false labor occur this past Wednesday with regular contractions for a couple hours that were about 5-6 minutes apart accompanied by stomach illness. We were thinking that was going to be the day, but by mid-afternoon, the contractions had slowed down and become less intense. According to the doctor, my body still has some prep work ahead before I will be ready to deliver.

37 weeks...no more than 10 days left

Hi Everyone! Well, another week down and the end really coming - yeah! It has been a long nine months and my poor body is ready to start recovering. All is well though. I am still at ten pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight and my blood pressure was a stunning 1118/68 yesterday at my OB appointment. I have a very small amount of water retention in my ankles, but my wedding ring is still loose. On the ultrasound, the baby was scored an 8/8. We are getting so excited knowing that we'll be holding our little girl within just a few days!

36 weeks - no more than 19 days to go!

Well, I had another ultrasound and saw the doc today. The plan is to schedule an induction around the 23rd of the month if I haven't delivered by then. I'm sure that Grandpa B. will be happy since that is also his birthday. As for the baby, her estimated size is 6 lbs. 7 oz. which puts her at about the 52nd percentile for her gestational age. Everything else also going well with me...no high blood pressure, no major swelling and I am beginning to dilate. I have another appointment next week, but there is one great ultrasound picture from today showing our little lady waving! Enjoy!
