Just wanted to let everyone know that my glucose tolerance test came back with an abnormal result. It indicates that I have gestational diabetes. I will be taking classes to help with diet modification. If changes in the diet are not enough, then insulin injections will be the next step. Just wanted to update everyone on Baby Girl. I went in yesterday for my 24-week check up. The baby is growing well, and is measuring about a week ahead. Also, I had my glucuse challenge test done and unfortunately my blood sugar was slightly elevated. I will be having a 3-hour glucose tolerance test performed on 2/18 in order to get a more accurate reading. In some cases, this is the screening for gestational diabetes. I should have test results around 2/22. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that my sugar was just up from too much cake and ice cream this past weekend! I will post the info once I know.

I am a mom, wife, kidney cancer survivor and now a new critical care nurse. My life is rich in all the ways that matter, and for the the most part I wouldn't change a thing. I am thankful for each day I am given on this planet and have yet to see birthdays in a negative light. I laugh at people who think that we are getting old. Growing up and not having fun is one thing I will never give up. My children have have really brought out the best in me and being a mommy is the most important job I will ever have. I truly value my family and friendships and do the best I can to nurture them. If there's anything I've learned on this wild ride, it's that I really do "get by with a a little help from my friends!"
