31 weeks and counting....

Sorry this is a bit late, but I've been busy!!! A quick update to let you know that I (J) am now in my 31st week of the pregnancy. As of last Friday, I was measuring at about 34.5 weeks, which means that baby girl is big! I still have yet to gain any weight and actually have lost a total of eight pounds since the pregnancy began. The doctor said that it doesn't matter as long the baby is growing. I am following the new diet and it really helps me to feel a lot better. I have still been a little a little elevated on my fasting blood glucose levels (first thing in the morning), so the doctor put me on a 1.25 mg dose of glyburide at bedtime. For the most part, it seems to be doing the trick. I go back on April 3rd for my next check-up, which will be weekly from here on out. I also have an ultrasound scheduled for April 10th to get the approximate size of the baby. Expect another posting next week!

28-week check up

So I just wanted to let eveyone know that I went in for my 28 week check up yesterday. I am now technically in my third trimester - thank goodness! So my blood glucose levels have been looking pretty good, but are still slightly elevated at times. I have been working on modifying my diet to limit my carbohydrate intake and regulate my sugar levels. The concern at this point is that the baby is going to get very large due to the extra sugar in my blood. At this point, I am measuring about three weeks ahead. The doctor says that the rapid growth should slow once my sugars stop being elevated. I will be having another ultrasound in one month to see big the baby is. The doctor does not want me to need a C-section due to my blood clotting risk factors. The interesting thing is that am still losing weight. I am six pounds lighter than when I started the pregnancy. D has been joking about being on the "pregnancy diet." The doctor does not seemed concerned since the baby is growing very well. I go in for the gestational diabetes follow up class tomorrow. We will be discussing my glucose levels and diet. I will keep you all updated as things progress!

Oh yeah, we have a tentative name picked out...but we're not telling yet!
